Project Overview

Higham Roofing & Construction was appointed to carry out re-cladding works at The Cooper School. The project involved the installation of the Garland R-Mer Clad Wall system, providing a 20-year guarantee upon completion. The project was carefully planned and executed to ensure minimal disruption to the school’s operations, while adhering to safety regulations, particularly during the removal of asbestos-containing materials (ACM).

Scope of Works

Asbestos Removal:
An R&D Asbestos Survey identified asbestos in the existing cladding. All ACM removal was conducted outside of term time or during weekends to protect staff, pupils, and the public. The ACM removal works were carried out in compliance with HSE regulations by certified operatives, and consignment notes were provided.
Cladding Replacement:
The existing cladding was replaced with the Garland R-Mer Clad Wall system, chosen for its durability and long-term performance. This system offers a 20-year guarantee, ensuring the building’s exterior is protected for years to come.
Project Delivery:
Despite inclement weather, the project was completed on time and within budget. The work was carried out with close coordination with the school to ensure minimal disruption to daily activities, including special events like open evenings.
