Higham Roofing & Construction was appointed to deliver a complete re-roof and associated internal upgrades at Campion School and Language College, as part of a significant investment in the school’s infrastructure. The scope of works was carefully planned to enhance long-term performance and meet stringent educational building standards.
Removal of Existing Materials
The works began with the safe removal of suspended ceilings and all electrical items within the affected classrooms. Existing roofing coverings and strammit decking were also stripped back to expose the structural base.
Structural Roof Upgrade
A new layer of TATA Steel decking was installed, fixed onto ‘top hat’ sections mounted to the original concrete beams, providing a solid and reliable foundation for the new system.
Roofing System Installation
Higham installed a Bauder built-up flat roofing system, incorporating cut-to-falls insulation to ensure effective water drainage and long-term durability. This specification allows for enhanced thermal performance and has been backed by a 20-year system guarantee.
Window Replacement
All existing windows with minimal upstand heights were replaced with new units, designed to accommodate the increased roof height while maintaining daylight performance.
Internal Refurbishment
A new Armstrong suspended ceiling system was fitted, alongside a modern LED lighting upgrade, significantly improving the internal learning environment.
Ancillary Upgrades
The project also included the replacement of all rooflights, projectors, and fire protection systems to ensure full compliance with current safety standards.
Finishing Touches
The new roofing perimeter was completed with a PPC aluminium fascia, delivering a clean, modern finish.
The project was delivered on time and within budget, providing the school with a reliable and future-proofed roofing solution. All works were carried out with minimal disruption to the school’s operation, thanks to close coordination with the school and other stakeholders.
